Cut a vinyl patch 4 inches 10 cm wider than the removed segment.

Cut the spare piece of vinyl along the marks using straight tin snips.
Remove the nails one at a time to disconnect the entire length of vinyl.
Insert a pry bar between the piece of siding from which you want to remove the nails and the one above it.
